Watch the sky open up like an old wound. Spilling its filth out all over the land. I've been stranded here these 13 years, away from gods and man. Come with me, down the mountain and over the river where no one can see. Out near where Eve's forgotten still play. Come with me, out in the fire, out past the ruins. Out near San Vicente. And we will find our way back to the water and pull our bones out from the sand, and you can lay your precious heart here in my hands.

Mankind 05:35
Just like the faded sunshine, we are mankind. Just like the rose in the garden grows amongst the weeds our colors show. Just like the perfect who once knew, we are the bloodied, the feeble, the few. Just like the spirit given to fly, under the eye we run and we hide. The room spins in counts of three. I bleed for every one of you I see. You and me and the bottle makes three. One more round for the devil in me. One more dance and he might tell what she's doing at the bottom of my well. One more kiss and I might tell what brings this devil so far from hell. Have another round with me. Round and round and round in three. The devil, the bottle, and she. Round and round and round in three. But he may never tell why she's at the bottom of my hell. And the devil was singing this song.

I saw her there outside my door as she said goodbye. Now all that's left of her are some bloody footprints in the snow. Where they go I do not know nor do I dare to follow. All I know is my house is so cold since she ran out the door. She never was one much for crying. She never was one much for fighting. She never was one much for screaming but she did so much that night I still can't sleep. I wait now every night for her to walk back through the door, so I can take her back in my arms and lay my bones beside her. So I can tell her that it's all ok and drive the devils from her shores, but love still haunts this home and I'm just a stack of bones.

Hear the birds sing in their trees. Feel the water rushing o'er your feet. Hear the wolves cry in the night. See their jaws open wide. Look now, out on the plain. The riders watch from the flames. When they come for you, take my hand, and I will guide you through the pines and to the end. Through the pines, where no one's been. See the sun fall from the sky. See the mountain turn to white. Hear the storm come and the winds blow. Feel the chill of death in your bones. Look now, out on the plain. They who ride, ride with no name. When they come for you, take my hand, and I will guide you through the pines and to the end. Through the pines, where no one's been. Through the pines, and over hell. Through the pines, back to where we fell.

Let's bleed together in El Paso and let the fireflies guide the way home. We'll dry up under the sun and we'll make like the winds do blow. The lights against the fall of day in streaks against the stars. It's nighttime in nowhere and no one dares to stay. The smoke rises from the mountain, the saints cry, the ghosts run wild, and the widows ride. We are travelers lost lifetimes from home. We are now strangers in the evening glow. The saints cry, the ghosts run wild, and the widows ride. You will pray for the day they come and come to fear things you never knew. See the king set on his blood wet throne and stand among the smoke and observe his kingdom of bones. The dust will settle, the dawn will appear, and everything you love you'll come to fear. The saints will cry, the ghosts will run wild, and the widows will ride. Let's bleed together in the river and let the fireflies guide the way home. We'll dry up under the sun and we'll make like the winds do blow. Let's bleed together on the mountain and let the fireflies guide the way home. We'll dry up under the sun and we'll make like the winds do blow.

I'm gonna love you girl, every night and every day. I'm gonna love you girl, every step of the way. I'm gonna love you and walk with you girl, from the garden to the grave. And if the skies fill with rain I will be your shelter. And if the sun starts to burn you I will be your shade. Cause I'm gonna love you baby, from the garden to the grave. I'm gonna walk with you girl, until I can't walk no more. I'm gonna walk with you girl, until my feet are blistered and sore. From the garden to the grave, and then we're gonna walk some more.

Evergreen 04:14
Now that the fires have gone out and the seas still storm. The widows ride back to their empty homes. The skies fill with ash. The whole world turns to gray. Everybody knows today is the end of days. There is no heaven left for us to know, no hell left to see. There will always be you and me. Always and evergreen. The roads fill up with strangers and there's no safe place for the hearts of men. So I place my heart in your hands and from here we will watch it end. We will laugh with the angels and watch the gods fall from their thrones. And then a path will open for us, out of Eden and over their bones.

Goddamn 06:28
It is Christmas Eve, and we're all dead and dreaming about you. From way out here the lights are so dim. So lifeless and blue. And the ghost keeps talking, the scars stop smiling. A light falls from the west and you know it is over. Look now, do you see the light? Burning out there on the plain. Come now son, you know what we've done. We can never return there again. And the ghost keeps talking, the scars stop smiling. The mission bells keep ringing, saying it's over. Heaven failed me. Filled my heart full of lies. God damn the day I met you. God damn my heart. God damn my eyes. I want to go back to the border lands and lose myself again. Somewhere out near San Vicente. A place without a name. And then the ghost keeps talking, the scars stop smiling. Let judgment ride me down and tell me it's over. With blood and steel, I will meet my end. Her love my greatest sin. With hunger and thirst I will waste away. I pray her love stays in the grave.

The cities have crumbled, reclaimed by the wild. And we set off across the plains. Over the mountains, through the pines, from the rivers to the ends of the earth. All the while in the fire. We found its edge along the dried up sea. The ruins of San Vicente. She said we will be children forever and she took my hand and we disappeared together into the wasteland.
